Talented musician Lucy Ward’s nimble fingers are equally at home on the guitar, ukelele or concentina – but she considers her voice to be her number one intstrument.
The award-winning acoustic artist from Derby, just 24, will be visiting the Limelight Theatre in Aylesbury as part of her latest tour next week.
Lucy first began playing guitar at the age of 14, venturing into acoustic clubs where she was first exposed to the traditional music that she now loves.
Entranced by the lyrics and stories of traditional song she delved further into the world of folk music, visiting clubs and sessions up and down the country before getting booked to play gigs in her own right.
She had already won a string of awards before becoming one of the youngest people to be nominated as folk singer of the year in the recent BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards
The Aylesbury date is part of a tour is showcasing songs from her second album, Single Flame, which was released to rave reviews last August.
Lucy and her band will be at the Limelight on Friday, April 11 from 8pm.
Tickets are £12.50 (£10.50 concessions) available from the box office on 01296 431 272, and you can book online at www.qpc.org
