Young girls in Dacorum are sure to be squealing with delight after teenage boyband Union J were the latest act to be announced for Tring’s Chilfest concerts next summer.

The boyband quartet of X Factor fame will be supported by fellow talent show stars Rough Copy and 90s Bodyshakin singers 911 as part of the line up for the pop evening on Sunday, July 6. The concert will be held again in Pendley Meadow and spread over three days instead of two.

Organiser Steve Butcher said: “We think Union J are going to have a really good 2014, and the announcement has already got a good reception on the Facebook page. We also think that Rough Copy are going to take the place of JLS, they’re going to be massive. It’s a bit of a coup to have them in Tring.”

Also in the pipeline for next year is a battle of the bands competition, which Steve says will happen around mid-May.

Amateur talent from Herts, Beds and Bucks will be invited to send in video clips of their performances before a shortlist is compiled.

Steve said: “The outright winner will open Chilfest on Sunday afternoon, and we will give them an edited video of their set to utilise in their own promotional material. We think it will be really cool for a local band to get involved.”

Further details on how to enter will be posted on the Chilfest Facebook page in the new year.
