There’s Gilbert & Sullivan jollity in store at the Boxmoor Playhouse, where the Hemel Hempstead Theatre Company team are putting the finishing touches to their spring production of The Mikado.
This exotic tale was considered to be the biggest hit of the partnership’s Savoy Operas canon, and as well as running for a record-breaking duration in the West End was quickly adopted by companies all over the world.
The tale of Japanese high jinks, featuring familiar favourites such as Three Little Maids From School and I’ve Got A Little List, has remained a firm favourite to this day, and this production is a supper theatre presentation, with curtain up on Saturday, April 20 at 7.30pm.
There’s a matinee performance the following afternoon at 2.30pm, when afternoon tea will be served instead of supper, and then there’s a break before the performances begin again on Thursday, April 25, with further shows on the Friday and Saturday.
Evening tickets are £15 and the Sunday matinée is £12.50 – visit www.boxmoorplayhouse.co.uk for booking details.
