Sketch comedy is having a real resurgence after being cast into the shadows for years by the spotlight hoggers of stand-up – and one of the best known names on the circuit is Pappy’s.
Ben Clark, Matthew Crosby and Tom Parry have seen all sorts of success with their mash-up of sketches, songs and general silliness.
Originally a quartet working as Pappy’s Fun Club, they switched to the shorter name when founder member Brendan Dodds moved on to other projects in 2009.
Their inaccurately-titled Pappy’s Last Show Ever was garlanded with nine five star reviews at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival and has been a firm favourite on the circuit.
The trio were among the ensemble involved earlier this year in hit and miss BBC Three comedy Badults, which despite getting a critical mauling has been commissioned for a second series.
They’re coming to Tring’s Court Theatre next Friday, October 25 and it’s your chance to catch them live in all their glory. Visit www.courttheatre.co.uk for ticket details.
