Just because they had their finest moments as part of the Britpop bandwagon back in the 1990s doesn’t mean that Dodgy are anyone’s idea of a greatest hits package.

There are any number of bands who have got back together and gone back on the road to crank out their hits of years gone by and bank a belated pay cheque.

But the power pop trio best known for their hits Staying Out for the Summer, If You’re Thinking of Me and Good Enough – as well as the platinum selling album Free Peace Sweet – are still creating much-praised new music, and promise the best of both worlds when they arrive in Tring on Friday night for a gig at the town’s Court Theatre.

In recent years Dodgy have become festival stalwarts, appearing at events all over the country and cementing their reputation.

Last year they released their first album in more than a decade, and Stand Upright In A Cool Place was given a big thumbs up by the music press.

This year it’s all been about marking 20 years since the release of their debut The Dodgy Album and building on the Stand Upright In A Cool Place buzz, with a ‘Back To Back’ tour which featured both collections in their entirety.

You can find out more about the band at, and if you’d like to see them live on Friday night, tickets are £15 from

You can also call 07543 560478 or buy in person at Beechwood Fine Foods in Frogmore Street during normal opening hours.

Also coming up at the Court, the people behind the town’s annual Tring comedy festival have a varied programme of Court Theatre shows under the Get Stuffed banner, including the English Chamber Orchestra Ensemble, 1970s blues rockers Wishbone Ash and 1980s Two-Tones heroes The Beat.
