Excited pupils at Bishop Wood School in Tring were paid a visit by Status Quo drummer Jeff Rich on Monday afternoon.
The musician engaged the children for an hour and a half in an interactive and inevitably noisy masterclass.
Jeff’s initial interest in drumming began when he was nine, after he saw American jazz drummer Gene Krupa on TV.
Of course today he is most famous for being one fifth of rock band Status Quo, with whom he toured with for 16 years before leaving in 2000.
Jeff now shares his passion for percussion at schools across the country.
He said: “The whole idea of my workshops is to inspire the children to learn an instrument and if I achieve that, then my job is done.”
Sally Spriggs, publicity administrator, said: “Jeff was so knowledgeable, engaging and inspiring for the children. We were all drumming to the beat by the end of it.”
