Organisers of a charity concert at Pendley’s Court Theatre this weekend have set themselves an ambitious fundraising target.

Once they take their final bows after Saturday’s performance at the Tring venue, they hope to be able to present at least £5,000 to the team at Rennie Grove Hospice Care to help support their vital work in the community.

Bands on the bill include Tring-based Old Country Union, a five-piece acoustic outfit covering mostly American classics ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Earl and Steve Miller to Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and the Doobie Brothers

The band has performed at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the Towersey Festival, but they are equally at home playing smaller and more intimate pub venues. Front man Frank Walsh said: “Many people are giving their time free of charge including the sound and lighting technicians, front of house staff and venue itself.

“If you can we would love you to join us. We hope to raise in excess of £5,000 – we feel it’s time to give something back by helping those less fortunate than ourselves, so dig deep and join us for a great evening’s entertainment.”

Tickets are £12.50 from 07543 560 478 or www.courttheatre.co.uk. You can also pick them up in person from the Kings Arms, King Street, Tring or Beechwood Fine Foods in Frogmore Street, Tring.
