THE Berkhamsted Sports Centre Swimming Club youngsters continued their flying start to the 2011 season with a fine set of results at the Level 4 meet in Leighton Buzzard.

The Berkhamsted swimmers picked up a total of 24 personal best times from 33 swims, as well as scooping three gold medals, three silvers and five bronzes.

They were also handed 15 speeding tickets for improving by such a large margin that they broke the time limits imposed.

Ben Rochford was the star of the show for the Berkhamsted side as he bagged two gold medals and a silver.

The talented youngster also clocked two PBs and set a new club record.

Charlie Gray secured the club’s third gold medal of the meet, before earning a speeding ticket with another fine swim.

Owen Strakosch and Jennifer Atwill, meanwhile, secured the club’s other silver medals.

Emily Hannaby, Ben Brown and Eddie Duncombe took home bronze medals, and the trio, along with Molly Baker, Ella Haas, Strakosch, Atwill, Abbie Brown, Zak Patel, and Ben Bayer, all recorded new PBs.

Speeding tickets, meanwhile, were handed to Sam Gray, Baker, Strakosch, Hannaby, Abbie Brown, Patel, Ben Brown and Bayer.

Madi Haas also swam well, securing a fourth-placed finish.

Berkhamsted chief coach Geoff Wood was very proud of his side.

He said: “The results show the progress the whole club has made over the course of the last 18 months as so many of the swimmers have made themselves ineligible for this meet next year by taking the speeding tickets.”
