Having finished as runners-up in the Herts County 7s last week, the TringRugby seniors went one better this weekend to win the Grasshoppers Cup.
A combined squad of first and second team players travelled to the tournament on Saturday and went unbeaten all day to finish as champions. Their winning run featured four clean sheets, including in the semi-final and final.
TringRugby director of rugby Mike Ward was thrilled with the result, saying: “I’m really pleased with the tournament win. It’s all down to the extra effort from the lads in pre-season training and (head coach) Giles Wallis’ meticulous preparation.”
Results: TringRugby 22-0 Sky Sports; TringRugby 17-7 Grasshoppers RFC; TringRugby 14-0 Maidenhead; TringRugby 12-10 High Wycombe; TringRugby 12-0 London Scottish; TringRugby 18-0 Bourneville.
Pre-season continues this Saturday when Tring host Bedford Athletic at Cow Lane.
