A record 29 swimmers from Tring qualified for the County Championships, with 26 achieving personal bests in at least one event.
Greg Baxter led the way with third place in the 50m freestyle and sixth in the 50m butterfly, while Brianna Mazey and Chloe Woodruff had a very close race in the 400m freestyle – with Chloe narrowly getting the win as both girls achieved 13-second PBs.
Impressive PBs were also achieved by Sarah Holt in the 400m freestyle, Marcia Billingham in the 200m breaststroke, James Chennells and George Thorne in the 200m IM, Callum Bullock in the 200m breaststroke, Cole James in the 400m freestyle and Harry Thorne in the 200m freestyle.
Meanwhile, the U13 team were just pipped by St Albans in the front crawl relay – coming fourth – while Callum Bullock delivered an exceptional butterfly leg in the medley relay.
The open team put in a strong performance to beat local rivals Berkhamsted.
Head coach Justin Langford was keen to point out the progress the club was making at all levels, ranging from performance swimmers like Greg Baxter through to 10-year-olds such as Tilly Beckwith and Daniel Chennells.
“We are working hard with swimmers from age seven upwards and are always looking for new members to join,” he said. “Anyone who might be interested should get in touch.”
