HOCKEY: It was a good weekend of action for Tring as they recorded a number of solid victories.
The U16 girls were in fine form as they saw off Aylesbury 2-0 in a fiercely fought encounter.
After good work from Tring in midfield and defence, the scores were tied 0-0 at half-time, but Hannah Prentice and Olivia Wright pounced in the second half to secure the win.
The ladies’ first team, meanwhile, came out on top against Vauxhall in a high-scoring thriller.
Vauxhall took the lead early on, but Tring responded in devastating style to take a 4-1 lead into half-time.
Tring extended their lead at the start of the second half and – despite a Vauxhall fightback – finished the game as 7-4 victors.
It was not such good news for the ladies’ second team, though, as they went down 3-0 to table-topping St Albans.
Tring battled bravely, but eventually St Albans wore them down to claim the win.
The ladies’ third XI, however, continued their winning streak with a 4-2 win over Enigma.
Tring swept into a 3-0 lead with goals from Laura Roberts and Daisy Goldhagen (2), and wrapped up the win in the second half through a Katie Turnbull short corner
The men’s supervets also won well, beating Old Loughts 2-0.
Charles Leach gave Tring the lead after a fine move down the right, and Keith Stokes added the second with five minutes left to play.
