A talented basketball player from Hemel has proven that anything is possible with a bit of hard work and determination.
Francesca Quinn, 16, has managed to successfully juggle a blossoming basketball career with the stresses of completing her GCSE exams.
And the effort has been worth it for the Hemel Hempstead School pupil as she got eight A* grades and five As, as well as competing for the GB U16 basketball team.
She also took part in a basketball camp in the USA last year.
“I knew time management would be crucial to ensure success in both areas of my life,” said Francesca. “I have always been ambitious and wanted to excel at whatever I have done, and so I worked exceptionally hard, juggling my time between sporting and academic requirements.”
Francesca will continue her studies in the sixth form, and is then aiming for a scholarship in America when she has completed her A-levels
“Watching Temi Fagbenle in the Olympics this summer competing in the GB women’s team truly inspired me,” said Francesca.
“She attends Harvard University as well as competing for her country, and my ultimate dream would be to emulate such a fantastic sportswoman and academic.”
