Row disrupted as Waters run riot at the top

TABLE TENNIS: League leaders Waters I cemented their place at the top of the Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League with an 8-2 win at Row.

Adeyfield I kept hot on their heels going into the Christmas break, though, as they thrashed Adeyfield A 10-0.

Waters A, meanwhile, picked up back-to-back wins as they beat Waters B 8-2 and Adeyfield A 7-3, while Flamsted and Tring played out a 5-5 draw.

In Division Two, leaders Flamstead A continued their good form with 8-2 victories over Northchurch I and Adeyfield B.

Second-placed McAlpine I stayed in the hunt with an 8-2 win over KLCC I, while Flamstead B lost 7-3 at the hands of Waters C.

Elsewhere, Division Three leaders Highfield overcame second-placed Adeyfield C 6-4, before Adeyfield bounced back with a 7-3 triumph at the expense of Waters D.

KLCC A drew 5-5 with McAlpines A but then lost 7-3 to Highfield.

Meanwhile, in the second round of the Wren Cup, there were wins for Row, KLCC I and new boys St Georges.

In the first round of the Wren Plate, Waters I, Adeyfield I, Waters D and McAlpines I all picked up victories.

Maximums over the past few weeks went to Marc Lyons, Alan Jones, Ken Stonebridge, Angela Smith, Jack Reyland, Dave Geary, Trevor Leverno, Darren Roan, Barry Dixon and Bob Saupan.
