National javelin title for Dacorum & Tring athlete Ratcliffe

Dacorum & Tring Athletic Club’s Trevor Ratcliffe has been crowned national javelin champion in the men’s over 50 category at the British Masters Track & Field Championships.

Ratcliffe, a former world indoor masters champion and the reigning Herts county champion, threw 54.33m to win the title at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

In other news, Dacorum & Tring AC Road Runner Lee Bryant broke his PB over 10km at the challenging Bearbrook 10km race on the roads through Wendover and Weston Turville, posting a time of 49:23.

Team-mates Wendy Pearson and Carolyn Heeps, meanwhile, took on the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100. Wendy, in her first long distance cycle race, finished in a speedy 5:07:32 while Carolyn is a seasoned cyclist and finished under the five-hour mark, in 4:56:38.
