Max Whitlock is gearing up for a shot at World Championship glory after securing a place in the British team for the event in Belgium.
Double Olympic medallist Max, 20, will line up alongside Daniel Purvis, Sam Oldham, Kristian Thomas. Daniel Keatings and Ashley Watson for the artistic gymnastics spectacle which gets under way in Antwerp on Monday.
Max has already taken the English and British all-around titles this year, as well as three European medals, but says he will not be taking anything for granted in Antwerp.
“I’m really happy to be chosen for the team – that was my main goal,” said Max. “I was just waiting to see what would happen because you are never guaranteed anything.
“But now I’m really looking forward to the Championships because it is the first time I will have competed at them.
“I’m just looking at them like I look at all of the competitions I compete in. I just want to do as well as I can and see what happens.”
Only Max and Purvis will compete in the all-round competition for the British team, and Max says he is keen to build on his Olympic double.
“I’ve seen my Olympic scores and I just want to kick on from there as I head towards Rio,” he said.
“I need to start my new routines and make sure they are clean.”
