There was plenty of action at Little Hay last week, beginning with the Captains’ Drive-In on Saturday.
The captains of the men’s, ladies’, juniors’ and seniors’ sections marked the new club year by each hitting a ball off the first tee to the cheers of the assembled club members.
In the competition that followed the winning team was Paul Whiter, Paul Rickard, Emma Shepherd and Francesco Rocca.
Meanwhile, the ladies’ team continued their winning ways by beating South Herts 5-2 in an away match in the round-robin stage of the Pearson Trophy.
The final result was a 5-2 victory but there were some very hard-fought matches along the way – two of which went to the 19th hole and one to the 20th.
The Little Hay team consisted of Dorcas Kindinger, Jackie Joslyn, Caroline Banks, Linda Cusick, Pauline Manning, Linda Reeve and Clare Stammeijer. The non-playing captain was Elaine Meagher.
In the senior men’s Stableford, Trevor Sargeant emerged victorious with 40 points while Paul Thompson was second with 39 points and Paul Whiter came third, also with 39 points.
Little Hay Golf Club members will be welcoming enquiries from visitors during the Open Day at Little Hay Golf Complex on Saturday, April 12.
