Teenage speedster Josh Price made his Renault Clio Cup debut at Rockingham Raceway at the weekend - and it was quite an experience.
Josh was not allowed to run his practice session on the Saturday because he had tested at Rockingham previously and this is not allowed.
However, the talented teen was not fazed and he duly qualified in ninth place from an entry of 14 - a pleasing start to his car racing career.
Race 1 on Saturday afternoon saw Josh finish in a highly respectable seventh place, just 0.455 seconds off sixth.
His two times from Saturday’s races saw Josh start in 11th place for race 2 on Sunday afternoon. Being screened live on ITV4 with a huge audience, Josh was on the grid and waiting for the red lights to go out, but unfortunately he stalled his engine.
Josh has a never say die attitude, though, and on the fifth lap he had caught up with the trailing pack. He eventually finished the race in 11th place, 25.43s behind the winner, having lost 15-20s at the start.
Josh said afterwards: “Absolutely gutted to have made such a mistake at the start but I’m only human. A big thankyou to the Renault Clio Cup for making me feel welcome.”
Josh drove exceptionally well for his first venture into car racing and he now looks forward to racing at Silverstone later this month and Brands Hatch in October
