Tring Squash Club has received a grant to encourage more people to take up the sport in 2016.

Tring is a members’ club with a total membership of 350 and has good squash and social facilities – including four well-maintained courts and a bar that is open every evening.

The club is offering a free six-week course to men and women over the age of 16, with coaching provided by a qualified coach.

The ladies’ sessions start on Saturday at 9.20am and will last 60 minutes, while the men’s course starts on Saturday, February 20 and will also last 60 minutes, starting at 9.20am.

These free courses are aimed primarily at non-members who do not necessarily have to join the club in order to take part. Beginners and inexperienced players are equally welcome to attend.

The club will provide playing equipment, and numbers are limited to 16 players for each course.

Club chairman Betty Longhurst said: “The club feels that this is a great free opportunity for beginners to try a new sport and for inexperienced players to improve their skills and fitness.”

Anybody interested in joining one of these courses, or who would like more information, should contact Betty on 01296 660711 or email
