Electronic timing introduced for the Abbots Langley Tough Ten

Preparations are under way for The Abbots Langley Tough Ten and associated races as electronic timing comes into play for the first time.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, October 5 from the Manor House Playing Fields in Abbots Langley, and will feature 10K, 5K and 3K races.

For the first time, all races will be electronically timed, with gun to chip timing and results on the same day. Runners can enter online at www.tough10.co.uk

The 1.5K Fun Run will not be chip-timed, but entry forms will be available from Langley Travel in Abbots Langley High Street and will be downloadable from the race website.

An appeal has gone out to local businesses interested in supporting the Tough Ten, to raise the funding for the additional costs involved this year.

All money raised from the day is distributed to local deserving beneficiaries, schools and charities.

Race secretary Pat Waterton said: “If all the local businesses in the High Street were to donate at least £20, in addition to the monies already received, the costs would be covered.”

If anybody wishes to help, Pat can be contacted at Langley Travel on 01923 265256, though the race website or via email at alttrun@gmail.com

The Tough Ten is always happy to hear from people wishing to help marshal the event and two teams of helpers will be needed to assist at the end of the race to remove the runners’ timing tags.
