A depleted Camelot first XI suffered a one-point defeat away at Hampstead at the weekend.

With nine players missing through injury and unavailability, Camelot put in a brave display but eventually went down 32-31.

After leading 14-5 through tries from Nick Merritt and Ross Willoughby, Camelot found themselves 32-14 behind as Hampstead ran in a flurry of tries.

Scores from George Adams and Andy Hobbs gave Camelot hope at 32-26 down with 16 minutes to go, but despite a late Willoughby try, Hampstead held on for the win.

The second XI, meanwhile, enjoyed an impressive 53-15 victory away at Saracens Amateurs, despite captain Colin Campbell having to make do without a number of influential players.

The third team also won well, triumphing 32-6 at home against Bishops Stortford, while the fourth team - who only had 12 players available - defied the numerical disadvantage to win 45-31 away at Datchworth.

The Vets side continued the winning feeling, beating Fullers at home. Anyone interested in joining a senior side at Camelot should visit for information.
