Berko Ladies raise the Bar in Potters win

BERKHAMSTED Ladies’ First XI picked up a vital 3-0 league win over Potters Bar this week.

Berko were missing three key defenders - Andrea Bettridge, Ann Baxter and Maria Izamis -but goalkeeper Nat Kimble made up for it with some superb saves.

Steph Vere-Hogge opened the scoring for Berko, before Claire Barrett-Mold added a second before half-time.

Potters Bar responded, but Katie Reglinski hit a third to secure the Berko win.

The depleted Mens’ Seconds, though, suffered a 3-2 loss at home to Luton Vagrants.

Despite being a player short from the off, and conceding a goal early on, Berko showed character to take a 2-1 lead.

The hosts, though, visibly tired and two Luton goals turned the game on its head and snatched the victory.

But it was better news for the Men’s Third XI as they outclassed table-topping St Albans to secure a 3-1 win.

Jack Thie opened the scoring for Berko, before adding a deflected second.

St Albans pulled a goal back, but Berko held firm and Thie completed his hat-trick to seal the win.
