Berko fight to stay in at the deep end

BERKHAMSTED Sport Centre Swimming Club’s fight for survival in Division One of the Herts League continued at Potters Bar on Saturday.

The squad did themselves proud as they recorded 21 personal bests, four club records and 12 relay bests.

Rebekah Holden and Christian Nel were the club’s top performers, finishing second in the open 100m butterfly and Under-12 50m butterfly, respectively.

Alistair Welsh also recorded a second-placed result in the Under-16 100m backstroke, while the Under-12 boys finished as runners-up in both of their relay events.

There were personal bests at the meet for Holden, Welsh, Tom Weston, Abbie Brown, Kieran Elliff, Carly Dolman, Tommy Sheldrick, Abi Hurst, Spohie Smith, Tim Warr, Ellen Price, Sophie Durbridge, Jennifer Atwill, Tom Strakosch, Jason Wells and Ben Rochford in a fine team display.
