This bank holiday has the makings of a great weekend both for Watford FC and Watford Ladies FC.
The Golden Boys are at home to Leeds United on Saturday, with the chance to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League in front of a sell-out crowd.
On Sunday, Watford Ladies FC are at home to Portsmouth, knowing that three points will send them back to the top of the FA Women’s Premier League.
Sunday is not only Watford Ladies’ last home game of the season, but following last Friday’s announcement that they have gained FA Women’s Super League status from 2014, this will be Watford Ladies’ last ever home FA Women’s Premier League game.
With Portsmouth at home on Sunday, followed by their final game of the season away to Charlton Athletic on Wednesday, the Hornets have the opportunity to establish a four-point lead over leaders Sunderland, before the Mackems’ next fixture.
Sunday’s game will also see Watford Ladies Reserves presented with the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Reserves Division Two title, which they secured following their recent 3-1 win at Reading.
Watford Ladies v Portsmouth takes place at Berkhamsted FC’s Broadwater Stadium and kick-off is at 2pm. Admission is only £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with free entry for all Junior Hornets.
