TRING Athletic were beaten 2-1 by Hullbridge Sports as Julian Robinson’s side took to the Grass Roots Stadium pitch for their first friendly of the season.
The first half was an uneventful affair, but Tring keeper Mike Underwood was forced into a good save when one-on-one with a Hullbridge forward.
The second half opened up in terms of goal chances, and Hullbridge took the lead when substitute Alex Collison kept his composure to slot home past Underwood.
Reon Thomas came close to an equaliser for Tring with an acrobatic attempt soon afterwards, and it was only minutes later when a long throw by Dave Whicker was met by Connor Waite at the back post to level the scores.
At the other end, Collison was having a big impact for the visitors and again beat the back four but screwed his shot wide.
Hullbridge hit the bar shortly afterwards and Collison was again on the spot to head home the rebound to put his side in front once again.
Tring came close to another equaliser, but Tony Field’s header flew narrowly over the bar and Hulbridge took the win.
At the time the Gazette went to press, Tring were preparing for another friendly clash, at home to Hendon.
