Watford Ladies Reserves rounded off their pre-season schedule with a narrow friendly defeat to the QPR Ladies first team at Sun Postal FC.

The visitors are enjoying a fine start to their South East Combination League season with four wins from their opening six fixtures.

The game was exactly the kind of stern test that the Watford Reserves were looking for ahead of their WSL Development league opener at Reading on Sunday.

Unfortunately, a slow start from the Hornets was punished as they took lead with only 10 minutes gone when a cross from the right went unchallenged and a QPR striker met the ball powerfully to head home past Hollie Augustus.

The away side continued to press throughout the first half, but found keeper Augustus in top form.

To their credit, the Golden Girls battled back well after the break and could have forced an equaliser, but QPR held on for the hard-earned win.
