Hemel Hempstead take on St Albans City at Vauxhall Road tomorrow in the quarter final of the Herts Charity Cup.

Both clubs have made impressive signings in the close season, and many expect both to be there or thereabouts at the top of the table as the coming campaign reaches a climax.

Gate prices are £8 for adults, £5 concessions, U18 £3, U12 £1 and U5 free.

In their pre-season programme the Saints won six of their 10 games, losing three and drawing one. In the process they hit the net 29 times – hotshots Ryan Ashe and John Frendo both scoring five times – and conceding 15 goals.

The biggest win was an 8-1 tonking of an MK Dons U18 side, and a Stevenage XI were also seen off 4-1.

Hemel’s nine game warm-up run saw just one defeat, against Barnet, and eight wins including a 3-2 victory over a visiting Crystal Palace side.

Lewis Toomey has been rattling with rigging with regularity, with six goals already.
