Hemel Hempstead Town FC head to Chippenham Town tomorrow as they attempt to keep their FA Cup dreams alive.
The Tudors go into the third qualifying round clash on the back of a thumping 14-0 win over Chipperfield Corinthians in the St Mary’s Cup on Tuesday night, but they have been in inconsistent form in the league.
A 4-0 thrashing by Gosport Borough has left Hemel struggling in 19th place in the Conference South table, and manager Dean Brennan is looking for a response from his side tomorrow.
Hemel go into the game as favourites against their Southern Premier Division opponents, but Brennan knows that his players cannot afford to be complacent.
“With the FA cup everyone loves the story of the underdog,” said the Tudors boss. “We know plenty about Chippenham but in the cup you need some luck.
“It will be a tough game, they have a big slope on their pitch and they play it well. The players will know what’s expected of them come Saturday and I will be looking for a positive response.”
There is £7,500 up for grabs for the winners of the tie, and Brennan will be doing everything he can to ensure that the Tudors are in the pot for the fourth qualifying round draw – regardless of their recent struggles.
“We need to put Saturday behind us and make sure we keep sticking together and working our socks off for each other,” he said.
