A trip to National League side Aldershot Town awaits the winners of tonight’s FA Cup third qualifying round replay between Sutton United and Hemel Hempstead Town.
The sides drew 1-1 at Vauxhall Road on Saturday, and tonight’s clash will be the third match between the teams in the space of just nine days.
Hemel took the lead in the first half on Saturday through a sublime goal from skipper James Potton, but Sutton levelled it up after the break courtesy of a thumping strike from Ross Stern to send the game to a replay.
Speaking after the game, Tudors manager Dean Brennan said: “It was a tight game, and they are a very good side who have invested heavily in their squad and work with a much bigger budget than us.
“It shows how far we have come as a football club that we are challenging with the likes of Sutton United. Little old Hemel Hempstead are punching above our weight against teams like Sutton.
“Our quality could have been a bit better at times and we had a fantastic chance to win the game at the end, but we scored a fantastic goal in the first half.
“It was a great contest, a great game, and a great National League South FA Cup tie. Both sides tried to play the game the right way and we have no complaints; we’ll just go again on Monday.”
The fourth qualifying round clash with Aldershot will take place on the weekend of October 24.
