Leverstock Green fight back to make a point in six-goal Dacorum derby

Ten-man Leverstock Green battled back from 3-1 down against Berkhamsted to earn a 3-3 draw in an entertaining derby at Pancake Lane.

Visitors Berkhamsted almost took the lead within 30 seconds of kick-off when Josh Chamberlain headed the ball over Green keeper Kieron Jimmy, but the effort hit the bar.

Berko had the better of the early stages, and Mick Vipond’s side went in front after 23 minutes when Frankie Jowle crossed for Jamie Gavin to head the ball home.

However, within two minutes Leverstock were attacking at the other end and Shakir Agada was brought down in the box. The referee pointed to the spot and Liam Hind dispatched the penalty.

Berko almost went back in front after 31 minutes when Chamberlain’s header was cleared off the line, but the Berko front-man was not to be denied and headed home from the resulting corner.

And seven minutes later, Dale Sears won a header at the far post for a 3-1 lead.

But Levy were back in the game within two minutes as Hind to fired home from the edge of the box.

Berko led 3-2 at half-time, but the scores were level five minutes into the second half when Gareth Long was brought down by Comrades keeper Carl Tasker and Hind fired home from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick.

Within a minute of getting back level, Green were down to ten men when Dwaine Bryan received a straight red card for a challenge on Jowle, but Levy held on for a point.
