Kings Langley 1-5 Harpenden Town

Troubled times continued for Kings Langley as they were thrashed 5-1 by promotion contenders Harpenden.

Town went 3-0 up before half-time, and put the game beyond doubt late on following a consolation from Kings’ Mark Hansard.

A Ben Dawes 25 yard rocket and the speed of Mark Hitchcock to a 50-50 ball put Harpenden 2-0 up after half-an-hour.

Kings thought they had pulled one back when an in-swinging Nathan Pooley corner was ruled out for a foul on the keeper.

In-form striker Matt Johnson was then added to the lengthy Kings injury list, before a Jimmy Hill free kick gave the visitors a healthy interval lead.

Langley tried to stage the now familiar second half comeback as Hansard’s opportunist strike and a Ross Hampton penalty save gave them hope, but two late goals ensured that there would be no route back to respectability.
