Buckingham Athletic 1 Kings Langley 4

KINGS Langley picked up a much-needed three points as they swept to a 4-1 victory at Buckingham Athletic on a roasting afternoon.

The first goal was a classic counter attack, with Gary Wallace’s throw laid off by Jimmy Armstrong to Jack Johnson, and his pin-point cross was headed home by Gary Connolly.

And Kings soon found themselves two goals up as Nathan Pooley’s free-kick was met by Liam James to give the U18 defender his first goal at senior level.

However, Buckingham hit back as a moment’s lack of concentration from the Kings defence allowed Nathan Skelton to nip in and beat the visitors’ impressive keeper Ross Hampton.

Kings were not about to let their lead slip, though, and netted a third goal shortly after half-time.

Pooley’s cross arrived at the feet of Connolly – via a dummy from Armstrong – and he rifled a low shot home.

Both sides missed further chances as the heat took it’s toll, but the last word went to Pooley as he volleyed home the with virtually the last kick of the match after good build-up play between Tom Carter and Armstrong.

The result moves Kings up into 14th position in the MSSML Division One table.

Next up for the side is an away fixture against fellow mid-table outfit Wodson Park tonight.
