Kings Langley Ladies suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of St Martins

Kings Langley Ladies hit the self destruct button in an 8-1 defeat to St Martins FC despite having produced a good spell of determined football.

After conceding an early goal after four minutes, Kings responded well and matched the current Beds & Herts County Girls and Womens League Division Two leaders, with Holly Gravestock performing heroics in goal.

But Kings switched off after 35 minutes and were punished – St Martins banging in four goals virtually unchallenged in a blistering 10-minute spell which effectively ended the game.

After the restart, Gravestock was quickly in action again, thwarting two more attacks before two goals in as many minutes put the game out of reach.

Mary Hogan’s 25-yard free-kick screamed in after 75 minutes, but it was too little too late for Kings.

Kings are next in action on Sunday, April 6 at home to Bishop’s Stortford Ladies.
