HEMEL Town came out on top in an entertaining pre-season showdown with local rivals Leverstock Green.

Lee Bircham gave Levy the lead from the penalty spot, before a brace from Dennis Fenemore and a strike from David Pearce put the Tudors 3-1 ahead.

Green, though, pulled a consolation goal back four minutes from time courtesy of Lewis Pritchard.

Hemel included former Green favourites Charlie Gorman and Bill Morgan in their starting XI, but it was Levy who made a quick start to take the lead after six minutes.

Andrew Cracknell was felled by Morgan in the area, and Bircham displatched the resulting spot-kick.

Hemel, though, hit back and took control with a goal either side of half-time from striker Fenemore.

The front-man rifled in a free-kick off the crossbar after 33 minutes, before netting from a tight angle 12 minutes after the restart.

Pearce added a third for Hemel four minutes later as Colin Payne’s side looked to be running away with the game, but Levy rallied well and Pritchard nodded home late on.
