Nine-man Hemel Town suffered their first defeat of the season as they were beaten by Arlesey Town at Vauxhall Road.

It was a disappointing performance from Hemel, who were second best all night, but the Tudors still sit top of the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division table.

Arlesey started the game well and took the lead courtesy of a deflected strike from Chris Marsh, following a powerful run from inside his own half.

Hemel managed to stop the hosts from extending their lead during the first period, and Dean Brennan’s men were back on level terms after the break as Dave Pearce fired home.

Arlesey regained the lead as Drew Roberts slotted in from a free-kick, and the Tudors’ task was made even more difficult when Danny Hutchins was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Things went from bad for worse when Danny May was given his marching orders, and there was no way back for Hemel from there.
