West Herts League
SWR Doors will be kicking themselves for not bagging all three points in a 2-2 draw with Hemel Rovers.
A combination of poor finishing and a superb man of the match performance from Rovers keeper Barry Hills made sure that the game ended all square.
Doors missed a host of early chances before Rovers broke the deadlock against the run of play as Dan Allen sent over a cross which ended up in the hosts’ net.
And further luck came Rovers’ way as another cross caused havoc, leaving Mylie Cash to tap home and double the lead.
But SWR came out strongly after the break, and Warren Drysdale rescued a point for his side with a second half brace.
Elsewhere, Kings Sports’ Jason Nicolau and Brandon Murtagh got on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win over Hadley, and Hemel Rovers Reserves beat Aldenham 4-2.
Dan Thorne (2), Wasim Hussain and Luke Penhallow got the goals for Rovers.
Bovingdon, meanwhile, suffered a 3-1 loss at Sun Postal, while Gadebridge FC’s first season woes continued with a 5-0 home defeat to Pitstone and Ivinghoe.
Tring Athletic B fared better in 2-2 draw with Harpenden Rovers, as Martyn Travers and Phil Monaghan both found the target.
Another new club, Hemel Sharpshooters, went down 2-1 to Potten End – Warren Davies’ goal was not enough as Ben Beer and Rahul Thaker secured the win for End.
In other action, Hemel Rovers’ third team were thrashed 8-0 at Hunton Bridge.
