Kings Langley Cobras U11 were victorious in the West Herts Youth League Junior Cup final after a superb display against Sun Postal Blue.
On a warm afternoon at Ashlyns School, the scene was set for what promised to be a very tight cup final, as the teams had both secured home wins against one another earlier in the season.
Kings Langley got off to a bright start, forcing Sun Postal to make a number of goal line clearances.
And the pressure told as Lewis Clark took a short corner from captain Oscar Roach who then lofted the ball into the area to be met by the head of Sonny Gurr who planted it into the net.
The second half saw the pressure coming from Kings Langley, and Roach played the ball to Gurr on the right wing, who then crossed for Harrison Cooper to net Kings Langley’s second goal and secure the win.
Cobras coach Paul Roach said: “Kings Langley thoroughly deserved the win this afternoon. They played with such determination and it was a pleasure to watch.
“We have worked on our short corners this season, so it was great to see all of that hard work pay off with a headed goal which is very rare – especially as Sonny is one of our smallest players.
“This is our second visit to the cup finals. We made it here two years ago and on that occasion we lost, so we have learnt from our mistakes.”
