With six players unavailable against the current Premier Division champions, a depleted Long Marston side put in a brave performance in the Marsworth Cup.

After falling behind on 10 minutes, Long Marston came close to equalising when Paul Lelliott struck the crossbar from two yards out.

Further chances came and went for Long Marston, and Bucks eventually wrapped up the win with a second goal.

Long Marston manager Norman Miller said: “Every Marston player deserves credit as we finished the game with only nine men.

“Having made our three subs, two late injuries allowed Bucks to score a second goal with five minutes to go.”

The Long Marston Reserves, meanwhile, suffered an 8-1 defeat to Cuddlington, having lost five of their players to first team duty.
