Hemel Girls U16 6 Harvesters 0

HEMEL Girls added more silverware to the trophy cabinet with a fantastic County Cup triumph over their old rivals Harvesters.

Reigning champions Hemel started brightly and opened the scoring with a superb goal from Mia Hickey.

Hemel were coping better in difficult weather conditions and Pru Squires-Adams swept the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.

On the stroke of half-time, the lead was extended when Ellen Salter celebrated her 200th game for the team with a superb third as she embarked on a mazy 50-yard run before firing home.

When Melody Jones scored early in the second half with a 25-yard screamer, the game was effectively won.

Harvesters did threaten on occasions, but with both Ellen Rogers and player of the match Emma Wiseman at their impenetrable best, there was no way through the Hemel defence.

As the match wore on, Hemel looked more and more superior and played some excellent pass and move football.

And they deservedly made it 5-0 when Callie Waters showed a great turn of pace to burst through the Harvesters defence and smash the ball into the corner of the net.

The match was suitably finished by captain Cally Salter – also in her 200th game for the club – scoring her 28th goal of the season from all of 30 yards.
