Bovingdon Cricket Club will host a match against a Bovingdon Legends team to celebrate the contributions of its two longest-serving members.

Between them, club president Ron Cornish and past president John Abraham marked a century of association with the club this year – it is John’s 60th year as a member and Ron’s 40th

As players, John took nearly 600 wickets for the club while Ron is Bovingdon’s leading run scorer of all time with more than 20,000 runs.

Just as significantly, they have continued to play an active role in the Club since retiring and have done a huge amount of work behind the scenes.

The celebratory match will get under way at 2pm on Saturday, September 21 and will be followed by a reception.

“The dedication and effort of the likes of Ron and John is crucial for clubs such as Bovingdon and it very appropriate this year to celebrate their contributions,” said Bovingdon Cricket Club’s Mark Carine.

“We’ve had a great response to the event.”

The Legends side is made up of former players from throughout Ron and John’s time at the club, and any former players are welcome to play.
