SCOUTS will celebrate 100 years of a scout group with the first parade at a historic mansion for 99 years.
The eight scout groups and five explorer scout units in West Herts will march at Ashridge House, now home to Ashridge Business School, on Sunday.
The event, which will include a service afterwards, is to remember the patron saint of scouts as it is the closest Sunday to St George’s Day on April 23.
But it will also mark the 100th birthday of the Little Gaddesden Scout Group.
The parade begins at 2.30pm in front of the house and then moves to the gardens behind it.
Ashridge spokesman Chris Johnson said: “The founder of the scout movement, Robert Baden-Powell, attended a similar event at Ashridge House in December 1912.
“He was a weekend guest of Lord and Lady Brownlow, the owners of Ashridge at that time.”
