A FIRM’S commitment to sourcing timber from sustainable forestry has helped its boss earn an OBE.
Peter Latham, 60, is the director of James Latham plc in Hemel Hempstead, one of Britain’s oldest companies.
It is a leading importer and distributor of wood-based sheet materials, joinery quality softwood and hardwood flooring.
On his achievement Peter, right, said: “I was flabbergasted and delighted when I received the letter.”
The father of two sons, who lives in Heath and Reach, near Leighton Buzzard, is also the chairman of PEFC UK, which promotes good practice and ensures that forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.
Also on the Queen’s New Year Honours List is the former principal of West Herts College, Elizabeth Rushton, who has been awarded an OBE for services to further education.
