A COMMUNITY spokesman has voiced his concerns that cash from developers is being misused.

The funds are meant to offset the impact of developments on the area where they are built and are often part of larger planning applications.

A Monday meeting of Berkhamsted Town Council heard that £40,000 was set aside in return for permission to build flats in Stag Lane, Berkhamsted.

But Berkhamsted Citizens Association member Gordon Bluck said it was spent improving the Grand Union Canal’s towpath in and to the west of Northchurch.

He said: “Money now needs to be spent by the town council to improve the towpath in Berkhamsted. Can we get our money back?”

The town council said all funds of this nature are given to Dacorum Borough Council or Hertfordshire County Council.
