UPDATED: Biker hospitalised after accident on commuter artery road

A man was taken to hospital after a car collided with a motorbike on one of the main routes used by commuters through Hemel Hempstead last night.

A black and silver Skyjet motorcycle and a black Ford Fiesta were involved in the accident, on the busy Link Road between Grovehill and the Leighton Buzzard Road road at around 4pm.

Police, an ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the site, where delays were caused throughout rush hour on the stretch commonly used as a route to and from the M1 at Junction 8.

One man in his 30s was taken to Watford General Hospital with what the police incident log described as minor injuries. The East of England Ambulance Service Trust confirmed that his condition was not life-threatening.

The motorbike was recovered and traffic resumed on the road shortly after 5pm.
