Commuters on their way to work had to moo-ve over this morning after they were faced with an escaped cow in Tring.

Police were called to London Road at around 5am and officers were dispatched to deal with the wayward animal.

They managed to round up the cow – which appeared to be enjoying its new-found freedom by munching on the grass verge – and took it back to its herd.

Police spokesman Sarah Spence said: “They managed to coax the cow back into a field and it was all dealt with by 5.30am.”
