Two men charged after 50-inch TV stolen in break-in, while woman faces court for attempted burglary


Two men from Hemel Hempstead have been charged on suspicion of burglary in connection with an incident in the town on January 12, while a woman faces court today on separate break-in charges.

Jimmy Witney, 21, of Galley Hill, and Anthony Lee, 18, of St Agnells Lane, were arrested last Wednesday in connection with the attack on a home in St Albans Hill.

Entry to the property was allegedly gained through an unlocked rear door and items including a 50” TV, Samsung tablet computer and a handbag, were swiped.

Both men were charged with burglary, while Witney was also charged with violence to secure entry, assault and criminal damage in relation to a domestic incident which occurred on New Year’s Day.

Both men appeared at Hatfield Remand Court on Thursday and Witney was remanded into custody, before both are due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on January 29.

Meanwhile Rosemary Senior, 25, of Bounds Green Road, Wood Green, was arrested yesterday in connection with an attempted burglary which took place at a guest house in Alexandra Road, Hemel Hempstead.

The culprits were disturbed while trying to break in to an office on Sunday, January 11.

Senior was charged with burglary with intent and going equipped to steal and is due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court today.

A 27-year-old man from St Albans was also arrested in connection with the same incident and has been released on police bail.
