A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum
Volunteer Centre Dacorum is seeking two or three new trustees, preferably with business backgrounds.
Trustees provide strategic vision and direction, monitor finances and make sure that relevant legislation and regulations are met.
The charity provides a focus for volunteering, offering information and guidance to potential volunteers and organisations.
You should have experience of business planning, a passion for volunteering and an understanding of the benefits it can bring to individuals and communities.
Meetings are held quarterly in the Roundhouse, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead and a mentoring system is in place for new trustees.
Home-Start Dacorum needs an enthusiastic and dynamic volunteer with an interest in children, young people and supporting families to join the board of trustees.
As a new trustee, you would be jointly responsible for overseeing the running of the charity and have the chance to help shape future services.
This home-grown charity based in St. Mary’s Road, Hemel Hempstead, helps families with pre-school children to cope with the stresses of family life.
Volunteers, who must be parents themselves, support families until they feel able to cope without further help.
Home-Start would especially like to hear from those with an interest in early years, family support, health and social care, or who are experienced in the fields of finance, human resources, marketing or fundraising.
Dacorum Sports Network is looking for a volunteer secretary who can manage records and correspondence as well as support the chairman with meetings.
The network was formed in 2007 and has a key role in ensuring that Dacorum has a healthy and active community. It provides advice and guidance on sports matters to clubs and volunteer groups.
The right volunteer will have good administration skills and an understanding of committee work. A home PC with email is a must as much of this role is home- based. They would be expected to attend six meetings a year in various locations around Dacorum.
Pictured are representatives of Dacorum Communities For Learning which has achieved Six Point Promise accreditation through the Volunteer Centre after providing evidence of their good practice in managing volunteers.
