A FOOD garden project, which will sell its own fruit and vegetables as well as teach people how to garden, has been officially launched.
The Hemel Food Garden in Two Waters Way has already hosted work experience placements for people with learning difficulties and given formal training courses in partnership with West Herts College and Paradise Training Centre.
Last Friday Mayor of Dacorum Gillian Chapman, Mayor of Berkhamsted Carol Green and the High Sheriff of Herts Arabella Stuart-Smith were among a host of dignitaries invited to tour the nursery.
They saw the work Sunnyside Rural Trust and its service users had put in since the charity took on the contract to grow bedding plants for Dacorum Borough Council last August.
Volunteers helped to transform the area into a community hub where people can grow their own produce, live more sustainably and buy from local producers. A regular programme of training courses will be announced later in the year.
