Public transport passengers who are looking to get fit in the new year have an unlikely ally – bus firm Arriva has created a fitness programme they can incorporate into their journey.

The Fit Bus guide on how to transform a daily commute into a daily workout includes tips like changing your usual stop and walking a little further, and always opting for an upstairs seat on a double decker bus to give your legs a workout.

Spokesman Linsey Frostick said: “Using the bus can keep you fit and simple changes to a daily bus routine can have a big impact.”
