THE MP for South West Herts says HS2 will improve train services in Berkhamsted and Tring.
David Gauke told the Gazette plans for a high speed rail link between London and Birmingham will mean more trains and more seats for commuters in the towns.
He said: “HS2 is a long-term proposal. It is right that we have a strong transport infrastructure in the UK. I am conscious that there are a range of views in my constituency and most of the letters I have received have been opposed to HS2.
“But one factor we cannot ignore is HS2 would mean increased capacity on the west coast main line - which could mean more commuter services for Berkhamsted and Tring.
“It is getting increasingly difficult to find seats on trains at the main times. It is important to protect the countryside, but we need a world-class infrastructure.”
