Rail chiefs have begun to run services again after train lines were hit by a signalling breakdown in the early hours of this morning.
Network Rail have re-opened the line between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International. Trains are starting to run on this route and a full service is expected to be restored by mid-afternoon.
Local and long-distance services through Birmingham New St have been disrupted all morning following the loss of power to signalling equipment south of the station.
A spokesman for London Midland, which runs the London-Northampton route which serves Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring, Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard, Bletchley, Milton Keynes and Wolverton, said: “We apologise to all our passengers affected by this signal failure. We are working to get displaced trains and train crew back into position so that we can start running a full service on all lines as soon as possible. If passengers experience delays of 30 minutes or more we encourage them to claim delay repay compensation.
